High Intensity Discharge
(HID) is the latest technology in automotive
lighting. It replaces the filament of the light
bulb with xenon gas by utilizing the gas discharge
principle, an arc of light is created between two
electrodes in a small capsule filled with a mixture
of xenon gas and halide salts. When high voltage
is applied, the gas is ignited to produce an arc
of light.
Xenon HID outputs three
times the amount of light compared to a standard
halogen bulb. The lamps also glow at a
higher light temperature and gives it its distinct
color and appearance. |

Fully digital, draws less than 6 amps
at start up and 3.4 amps at normal operating temperature.
This system provides 3200-3400 Lumens at 35 watts and
an amazing 5000 Lumens at 55 watts per bulb. In comparison,
a typical halogen bulb produces 900-1200 lumens.
What is the difference between 55w and 35w kits?
The 55w HID kits are 40% brighter than the standard 35w
kits.
The 55W system ballasts are about 1 cm longer than the
35W ballasts.
55w kits tend to wash out some of the color of the HID
bulb due to the light output( for example, a 55w 8000k
will look similar in color to a 35w 6000k kit).
The 55w HID Kit is not recommended for smaller fog light
housings because they tend to concentrate a large amount
of heat in a small area. A battery harness is
also recommended (See bottom of the page).

Harness
to car's battery (optional)
Use this relay harness to connect HIDs to cars with very
small gauge wiring that cannot supply the initial surge
current required to light the bulbs reliably. Symptoms
indicating the harness is required would be intermittent
starting or lights going out after being turned on for
several minutes and requiring you to turn the lights off
and back on for them to turn back on again.
Recommended for all 50W HID installations but most American
and European cars work at 35W/50W without the harness.
The harness is definitely recommended for Quad's and other
ATVs or when running multiple HID installations.

Code Eliminator (optional)
Some cars will generate a bulb out warning message or
even turn the headlight/foglights off when connecting
HID to them. Our cancellation modules fool the computer
in the car and allow the HIDs to work flawlessly.
Due to some documented variations in cars, we suggest
you note on your order (at checkout) your car year and
model as well as application (low beam/foglights) so
that we can match a specific module to your application.
We carry 4 different modules to solve various applications
as no one module generally works for all the possible
market variations.
